Upon the departure of 190 South LaSalle’s anchor law firm tenant, the building’s top floor that once served as the firms law library now had the opportunity to become an amenity for the building’s tenants. Whitney designed a grand bar which incorporated the architectural details found in the library's ironwork and feature chandeliers. The design also included cocktail lounge areas that occupied perimeter areas within the main floors existing library stacks. Whitney also was charged with the renovation of this floors elevator lobby which featured a custom area rug of great detail.

In addition to the top floor of the building, Whitney was invited to design new security stations for the main lobby; one standing height station for tenants managed by a single security person; and one visitor concierge/security station designed to accommodate two seated security personnel. Both stations utilize black and coral marble found throughout the lobby while remaining mobile. Whitney accomplished this by employing a stone veneer system typically used for architectural exterior fascias.

The system features a structural honeycomb aluminum substrate that receives a 1/8" veneer of stone from slab material. A fire rated millwork substructure was designed to receive hidden heavy duty casters. The two person visitors’ desk was designed to separate into 3 separate elements. These small details made a major impact on the main entrance of this historical building.
